IC 63 • THE GHOST OF CASSIOPEIA

WHISPY
THE GHOST

Meet Whispy — the Halloween ghost hiding in deep space. NASA featured this eerie, wispy nebula, officially known as IC 63, whose flowing veils of gas and dust look like a ghost drifting through the stars.

THE NARRATIVE

NASA found a Halloween ghost in space.

Whispy is inspired by the real Ghost Nebula, IC 63. NASA describes its long, flowing veils of gas and dust as ghostlike. The nebula sits about 550 light-years away in Cassiopeia, glowing as nearby Gamma Cassiopeiae lights and energizes the cloud.

THE LOOK

Float through the Whispy.

The front page uses NASA’s actual IC 63 Ghost Nebula image as the main visual instead of placing it inside a square. A tiny space dog simply drifts through the scene as a playful background detail while Whispy remains the focus.
